Biomimetic Robotic Shark

Collaborated with partner and faculty advisor to construct shark inspired robot Researched the swimming motions of sharks; investigated various materials to replicate shark musculoskeletal systems, including McKibben artificial pneumatic muscles; designed model in SolidWorks; fabricated proof-of-concept prototype; presented to faculty and peers at weekly design reviews

Micrometeor Radio Classification

Researched modern data analysis techniques for identifying micrometeors with radar telescopes; analyzed data returns from over 10,000 meteor radar echoes; identified radar signal interference patterns supporting the existence of controversial micrometeor fragmentation phenomena; created numerous MATLAB radio science-based simulations of meteor fragmentation confirming potential sources of observed signal interference patterns. See publications

Low-Cost Position Sensor for Robotic Applications

Researched implementation and integration of numerous low-cost commercial sensor technologies for novel sensor package; collaborated with MIT’s Lincoln Laboratory for integration into larger autonomous system; designed complementary sensor sub-systems to minimize error sources; implemented large scale sensor integration in LabVIEW

Exploded FPGA

Collaborated with partner and faculty advisor to design and prototype exploded model of FPGA processor Selected components and designed circuit layout for memory chip-based logic blocks; prototyping printed circuit boards for logic blocks in reconfigurable and expandable array; coding specialized assembler in Python to simplify reprogramming of look-up tables and FPGA behavior

SAE Mini Baja

Led a team of 30 members to design and fabricate a small off-road vehicle for the national Baja SAE competition; designed multimedia materials for recruiting corporate sponsorship; tripled team size through recruiting members; managed material and personnel resources; interfaced between team and college administrative and safety officials
